San Diego Festival of Sails (September 3, 2011) San Diego, California USA

We spent the day in San Diego thoroughly enjoying the Festival of Sails.
This man is preparing the gorgeous red sails for our 3 hour journey on the water.

This is a view from where my husband and I were sitting on the 'American Pride.'

The sails are going up one by one!

We had a great time with a 'cannon battle' against this ship!
Downtown San Diego is in the background.

A smaller sailboat also graces lovely red sails!

Bringing down the sails!
I think it takes very brave people to be WAY up there!

'Red sail in the sunset', what a treat to go out on the water in one of those old-time sailing ships and have a gun-battle as well. Di you feel like the pirates of the Caribbean? Great photos. I really like the sturdy sailor shot.

Thank you for linking with Our World and have a great day!

A very nice way to enjoy a day. However, I would probably get sea sick as I cannot take motion.

What amazing photos...I especially love the last one. And "gorgeous" is the perfect adjective for those glowing red sails. There is something really special about a sailing ship and I think it would be marvelous to spend the day as you did when you took these photos.

Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures. Gotta love that great San Diego weather.

We live in the Palm Desert area but hubby still works and lives in in San Diego during th week. I go there during the 'killer' hot days of summer.

Stopping by via Outdoor Wednesday. I also host a Wednesday party and would love for you the share.

It always amazes me that my daughter is one of those brave people that climbs the masts to furl the sails!
She had a great time at SD and this past weekend an exhausting time at Dana Point.
