SkyWatch Friday, Looking at the Sky on Friday / Highway 18 in Southern California

This is highway 18 leading to the mountain resorts in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California.
I stopped several times on my way to Lake Arrowhead to photograph the "yellow" everywhere.
I thoroughly enjoyed the yellow Spanish Broom in full bloom in our local mountains.
The scent is heavenly every year at this time!

The road along this stretch is like a roller-coaster.
The sky was as blue as blue can be without a single cloud in sight.

That's My World Tuesday / Palm Springs Tram

We drove out to Palm Springs, California to take the tram to the top of Mt. San Jacinto.
It was 111 degrees on the desert floor and only 70 degrees on the top of the mountain.
That's a 41 degree drop in temperature.
You can see the green below.
Snow melt from the top creates a beautiful stream that keeps everything green in that strip of desert.

This is the tram after it arrived at the top of Mt. San Jacinto.
The elevation is nearly 9,000 feet here.

We walked around the edge of Grubbs View, which offers a 360 degree view of the valley and wilderness.
There are 54 miles of back country hiking trails up here.
Some ride the tram with some serious backpacks for some serious back country hiking.
The desert was awesome...so colorful.
We were looking in the direction of Las Vegas, which is a good distance away.

This is our shadow on the rocks as we descended back to the Valley Station in Palm Springs.
It was after 5:00 p.m. and a perfect time for a bold shadow!

Today's Flowers / Chalk Art Festival in Temecula, California USA

I went to another Chalk Art Festival this weekend.
This time it was in (Old Town) Temecula, California.
Of the two festivals, Pasadena wins my vote.
But, there were several good artists this weekend.
I liked this pretty pretty blue flower for Today's Flowers.

Monochrome Weekend, Camera Critters / Let's Go!

I saw these adorable pups on Balboa Island, California USA.
They patiently waited for their masters to get ready for some kayaking on the water in Newport Bay.
I believe they tied this kayak to another and dragged these little guys along...I didn't see that part, unfortunately.

Weekend Reflections / Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center at Midnight - Los Angeles, California USA

This is Good Samaritan Medical Center which is next door to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, California USA.
I took this from the 11th floor window of my room at the hotel next to the hospital while my husband was there for a few days a week ago.
He is home now and all is well.
I had some fun getting the light trails of cars and buses as they traveled up and down the street, making turns into the hospital driveway or into the parking structure across the street.

SkyWatch Friday, Looking at the Sky on Friday / Waiting For the Sunset at Newport Beach, California USA

I was entertained by this kite-surfer while waiting for the sun to set behind me.
And, the moon...what an extra treat!

He worked for a long time to get ready and then was out in the water for less than 15 minutes.
But, something quite beautiful was happening behind me.

That magical half hour after sunset didn't disappointment me.

I became mesmerized with the water.

Wordless Wednesday, Midweek Blues / Happy 3rd Birthday, Chase! You Have Balloons and Cake on Your Face!

ABC Wednesday / "V" and "W", Watery Wednesday - Lake Arrowhead, California USA

Yesterday I found some places on the water at Lake Arrowhead to take some photos.
This boat slip appears to have no vacancy.

There seems to be plenty of vacancy here.
The top photo was taken in the late afternoon and the bottom photo was taken just before sunset.

I missed the letter "V" last week so I am combining V and W this week.

That's My World Tuesday / Chalk Festival in Pasadena, California USA

I really enjoyed walking among the artists participating in the "Chalk Festival" at El Paseo de Colorado in Pasadena, California USA
It was a gorgeous and sunny day on this past Saturday.
Most of the artists were huddled under sun umbrellas while they worked.
I like how the shadow of one of the artists is visible on this photo, and the hand of another is in the upper left corner.

I was SO impressed with this face!

...and these are just a few.  There were many more.

Face of the Week, Mellow Yellow, Ruby Tuesday, Blue Monday / Work in Progress

I spent a few hours, yesterday, at the Chalk Art Festival at El Paseo de Colorado in Pasadena, California USA.
I wish I could say I created these faces instead of just taking photos of  work in progress.
The artist seemed to be in her very early 20's.

This is just one of the many artists participating in this event.
I can't wait to post more throughout this week!
