ABC Wednesday / "P"

The very polite raven lives on the Painted Desert in Arizona.
I had a nice conversation with the polite raven for a little while.

This is the Petrified Forest which lies on part of the Painted Desert about 80 miles south-east of Flagstaff, Arizona.

My husband and I took this trip in late September.
We enjoyed a beautiful "monsoon" sky over the desert.

These are the "tee pees," which are part of the Petrified Forest region of the Painted Desert.

The petrified wood is scattered here and there and VERY illegal to take out of the forest!

We found a nice petrified log to take photographs of each other...

...and this is Jerry.

The theme is the letter P this week.

Wonderful sunny photos - here it is dark, foggy and everything yucky! Thanks for the sunshine.

Positively lovely photos of the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. I haven't seen either one yet, but we'll get back to Arizona some day.

I just got back from the PFNP and had spent two weeks there! Isn't it grand? Got some great raven shots, perhaps from the same polite one that you got! He certainly did pose for me. It was all so perfect!

I like the polite raven, Carolyn. There are many crows cawing where I live in BC and the rare raven that appears with its different sound is a joy to my ears.

It's been years since I've been to the Painted Desert so your pictures were nice reminders of the fun times I had.

the raven is a bit creepy...but the Painted Desert is so pretty.

When I was a kid I thought the Petrified Forest meant stone trees standing upright! I was so disappointed to find they were logs on the ground that looked like the surrounding rocks. LOL! Thanks for the memories.

That's just a lovely array of pictures! Love the picture of you and your hubby with the petrified wood.

Nice P post.

Humongous is how I'd describe that last petrified log that you took photos by. Great shots of a beautiful area.

I agree with Mrs Nesbitt, thanks for the sunshine!
Cool raven! And he was polite too!
Lovely shots from an amazing landscape. That wood must be very, very old if it has turned into stone.
Thanks for sharing!

I love your photos of the petrified forest and painted desert. I have never been to Arizona, but did live in New Mexico for several months. The southwest is beautiful!

Have only seen the desert from afar, as in a plane ride view or from the outskirts of a city. Lovely photos!
