Uh Oh... the rain is going to make it to the desert!
Uh Oh... the rain is going to make it to the desert!
We spent a few hours yesterday at the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA.
We thought we would escape the rain in Los Angeles or prolong the "dry" a little longer...but, it caught up with us before we got home!
These tents are used by those who want to spend the night to observe the nocturnal creatures here.
This area is often used by school groups on overnight field trips.
But...LOOK at that sky!
Storms coming over the San Jacinto Mountains create some "big" drama to watch!

I'm sorry the rain followed you but it's a gorgeous shot. The flowers against the tents are wonderful.
Even the desert needs a little rain. :)
Beautiful shot!
I like the way you composed this.
I love your composition, too, Carolyn! Love the tents and the flowers! I do know how it is when the rain shows up -- of course, here in Seattle it's never really left!!! Have a great weekend!

Oh I love this picture Carolyn. And I agree the desert will like some rain too.
Yup, looks like rain on the way. I hope those who slept in the tent are ready to go home now ;-) Happy SWF.

Great photo for SWF!Thank you for sharing!
Those are cute little tents! I'm glad you didn't get rained on while camping. The San Diego Wild Animal Park (now known as the San Diego Zoo Safari Park) also has a program where groups can spend the night in tents to experience the animals at night and early morning. They have a great set-up for it.
nice shot
My Skywatch Friday
Carolyn, I love this photo, it causes my body to tingle....I love the out-of-doors and especially camping and you have captured both so well. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend.

Beautiful shot, I love the flowers. I have not camped in years, it is fun. Sorry about the rain.
Yes...does look like rain is coming..but...that is what makes those flowers bloom in the desert.
Cool shot.
Nice to see that things are blooming in the desert.
The desert already looks lovely with those flowers in the foreground. I wonder how it will look after the rains ! Nice contrast on this, Carolyn - makes for a great shot !
Nice place to study nature.
Such a beautiful place to spend time with nature....rain or no rain:-)
Nice place! Love the teepee looking tents!

A really dramatic sky in the bacground of the tents,
don't think I would spend the night knowing these rainy clouds came :)
Beautifully dramatic sky Carolyn -- sounds like you got to do some exploring before the rain hit?
I wonder if it is too late for the rain to contribute to a good flowering season on the desert. We were on the desert one time after a rainy early spring and it was beautiful.
