a little cutie on the beach...
an amazing evening watching the high surf at 'the wedge' at Balboa Beach, Balboa, CA USA
surf like this brings out the surf watchers and photographers...and, that includes me!
the heavy surf pounded out a 3-5 foot sand berm along the shore.
these times are always something special to witness!

Yes that would definitely bring me out too. I'd be trying to get a great sunset shot with the surf in the foreground. Enjoyed these shots of yours today.
Oh, amazingly high surf!!! How attractive for photographers. If I had been there, I would have grabbed my camera and rushed to the seashore. Your photos are so beautiul.
Have a wonderful day!
Wonderful photos Carolyn, there is nothing I like better than seeing the waves crash against the shore. I love the first one, he is a cutie!
beautiful surf! i love the shadows on sand.
Those are all gorgeous beach views. Love the long shadows and soft lighting. The first one is darling!( It's a good thing he's watching those waves and not turning his back to them.)
Great shots Carolyn! I love the way you captured the crashing waves and great light! Hey that's me with the camera and tripod! Just kidding. :) Seriously though I'd love to have a really good camera and huge lens like that. Maybe someday.
Most of the time I take pictures with a tiny camera and tripod that fits in my pocket.
Great beach photos, I have always enjoyed watching large waves.
Wonderful beach photos. Like the light and the waves very much. Would love to have some more waves here.
Happy week to you!
Oh, I do love the beach! And I, too, enjoy watching the waves! Great shadows, too! Hope you have a wonderful week, Carolyn! Enjoy!

That's the kind of surf I like to watch from a safe distance!
RED AND YELLOW LULLABY
Red is the color of cherries, not cheese;
Yellow the backs of the sweet honeybees;
Red the fair hair of the Derry Town maid;
Yellow the yolk of the brown egg fresh-laid;
Red are the wounds of the sun going down;
Yellow the daisies beloved by the clown;
Rainbows of colors, delighting the eye—
Yellow and scarlet for this lullaby.

Red and Yellow Rooster
Golden light at the end of the day, wonderful shots.
I only get to visit a surfing location once and this reminds me of that place. Love the crashing waves most especially.
Beautiful captures. Love the warm colors of this golden hours. Makes me wish for the beach.
Great shots, my post is also about a surf beach.
Is the water cold, cool or warm? It looks like the waves break a bit too close to the shore for effective body surfing... a favorite pastime of mine (other than photography, of course). :-)
Francisca's right, looks like a good bodysurfing breaks. beautiful scenery shots! my MYM is up too.
What a great beach!
california postcard shots.
Such beautiful beachpohoto's Carolyn. Love them, makes me want to go there.
Visiting from Watery Wednesday ...your beach looks very beautiful and it must be so refreshing on these hot summer days!
Ahh I miss the smell of the ocean.
Watery Wednesday
Long time since I have been to a beach. Lovely shots.
A beautiful beach, beautiful photos.
Looks so relaxing and I can hear the sound of the waves...Christine
All the photos in this post are very impressive. I can imagine how much you were excited when taking the beach, crashing waves, and people against the gorgeous background.
I love these shots, especially the last. it's a great composition and the light that you capture is splendid. in all of them! happy watery wednesday. I hope you're having a joyful week.
What big waves and beautiful wave crests! You captured them all so nicely. I feel like that I hear the sound of the waves. Japanese arpipelago is surrounded by the sea, but is not blessed with such waves except one beach.
Beautiful shots of a beautiful place. This seems to have been a lovely day:)
Beautiful time of day to spend at the beach!
