Shutter Speed Priority (August 12, 2009)

I have been practicing with shutter speed. I started with the common sprayer on a hose and have now advanced to a real water fountain... I used 1/6 shutter speed. That seems to be the level where I like water images best, I think.

I didn't use a tripod so I am not sure if my grandson is as focused as possible. I need to plan ahead and have a tripod with me. This fountain was in front of some condominiums near the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

Daisy Like Flower/ Black-Eyed Susan (August 12, 2009)

The Black-Eyed Susans (daisy like flower and state flower of Maryland) are abundant around the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Jerry and I saw "Fiddler on the Roof" there last night and I was determined to return in the daytime to photograph these beautiful flowers. Ohhhh...did I photograph them...this is just a few! I shot some in sepia tone and I love them too!

Sail Boats at Sea (August 9, 2009)

There were so many sailboats, but these two caught my eye...If I had a 300mm lens I could get an even better shot! I need to work on that...

Little Surfer

This little guy had quite an audience on the beach...he just turned 4 years old! What a little surfer he is!

Doheny Beach...A Lady Reading (August 9, 2009)

I really liked this lady's hat and the fact that she had the afternoon to just read...for pleasure...

Dana Point Harbor (August 9, 2009)

Dana Point Harbor is always a lovely place to gaze at the yachts and sometimes much less... take a peek into the shops...or just enjoy how others enjoy...

Doheny Beach/Dana Point Harbor (August 9, 2009)

This is a sweet photograph of two curious little girls...Wow! This is sure a big ocean! Maybe they are cousins? I don't know them... they are just so precious...

Doheny Beach / Dana Point Harbor (August 9, 2009)

I want to improve my skills capturing birds in flight...there is plenty of opportunity for practice around the Dana Point Harbor. More practice is needed, but, here is what I got this past weekend. The last photograph is of a sea-gull. I thought it had a fish in it's mouth when I took the picture, but, maybe not...The rest are very busy pelicans hunting for "boat-trash."

Doheny Beach (August 7-10, 2009)

I had a very nice weekend at Doheny Beach with my friend, Sally. She was very patient with my picture-taking and I was very patient with her shopping addiction...but, we both can never get enough of the gorgeous views of the ocean. The weather was beautiful. The sky was beautiful. The water was beautiful...a perfect weekend at the beach...and, the umbrellas...wow!...gorgeous colors!
