My husband and I visited Oceanside, California yesterday. The U.S. Marine Base (Camp Pendleton) is adjacent to this beautiful seaside town on the Pacific Ocean. We visited a Harbor Festival for a while and then took a walk along the beach. Military vehicles were on the sand for all to view and enjoy. The best was yet to be seen...a U.S. Naval Hovercraft! Wow! What a sight! It was up on the sand with its engines running. A huge area of beach was roped off to keep viewers at bay. It was apparent that this Hovercraft was about to move back out into the ocean! What an amazing sight. The pictures in this post are only a small fraction of those that I took! But, it will give you an good idea of how exciting it was. The crowd cheered as the craft made its way to the water. I nearly cried at the sight. And, I am lucky to still have a camera that works with all the sand and water that was sprayed in all directions. I used the "canned air" for computers, etc., to clean it up when I got home. It is as good as new, but, I don't think I will take that chance again...But, this experience was worth it!

Blue Monday, Waiting for the Trash Truck!

It's early morning with my 2 year old grandson...waiting for the trash truck! It's Monday and that's what we do on Monday mornings, bright and early. He is sporting a new haircut...the curls are slowly disappearing. :( Lots of blue today, and that includes the sky!

Photostory Friday, Scenic Sunday / San Castle Festival in Santa Barbara, California

My husband and I spent the day in Santa Barbara visiting friends and then we were off to East Beach to view the "sand castles and other sand art" displayed on the beach after the Sand Castle Festival earlier in the day. These photos show what we saw just before sunset last evening! There were many other displays, but, I couldn't post all of them...although, I wanted to!

You can see people walking on the beach enjoying all the creations and 2 college students guarding their castle from anyone interested in "messing it up!" They were also waiting, as long as necessary, for the tide to come in and fill the moat around their castle!

I really loved the rabbit!

A fog bank was creeping in off the ocean and made for some dramatic scenes!

Shawn & Deborah (September 18, 09)

This is my nephew, Shawn and his bride, Deborah. They were married this evening (September 18, 09) What a beautiful wedding they had!

I like how the window reflected the cake and several people squeezing in to take pictures.
