The Cliffs of Moher on a Very Foggy Day

We were so fortunate to be able to return to the Cliffs of Moher a second time in completely different weather conditions. 

This time it was VERY windy and VERY foggy.

In fact, it was so windy that we stayed away from the cliffs’ edge to keep from getting blown over!

These conditions are, actually, more like a typical day here. 

The green shines through the fog!

Wild flowering plants peek over the limestone walls.

We can barely see the ocean through the fog. 

These steep cliffs are perched 600 feet above the churning Atlantic Ocean. They are bordered by an extensive cliff-top trail that offers majestic and breathtaking coastal views.

It’s beautiful with or without extreme weather!

Our friend, Sally, is trying to stand still in the wind.

The wind gusts are strong!

That’s me hanging on!

You can climb to the top of the O’Brian Tower for a fee of a few Euros.

 But, it was closed at this time since there wasn’t much of a view.

There’s an ocean out there...really!

The Wild Atlantic Way is appropriately named!

Just love the limestone rock walls.

A Foggy Foggy Day!

A lot of walking can be done in this area!

We had a very nice time but hope to do much more walking another time.

The trail along the cliffs’ edge gets very narrow so

be smart and save that walking for a calmer day.

It Was Time to Say Goodbye

It was Friday early morning, July 14, 2017.

It was time to leave this beautiful resort and the great people we met while touring together.

Everyone was moving on in different directions. We were being driven to Ennis to catch a train to Galway. 

This was our train, so we thought...

One direction goes to Galway the other to Limerick. 

We discovered about 15 to 20 minutes into the ride that we were going to Limerick instead of Galway. GEEZ!!!

We got off at the next stop which was just a minute further.

It wasn't a station.

It was the Nine Mile Bridge stop, a sheltered stop, but just a stop!

There was a shelter, a nice long bench and  a schedule. 

That schedule was not our friend for it was the bearer of bad news...two hours+ before the next train from Limerick to Ennis. And then another near two hour wait from Ennis to Galway!

There went our early arrival in Galway!

It was a bit chilly and my husband was just thrilled to be stuck, for what felt like, forever.

Here comes a train, but not ours.

It was also going to Limerick.

It occupied a few moments as a photo op!

The Gaelic language is amusing to me...this photo  amused me for a moment.

Flowers to photograph helped pass a few minutes!

No, I wasn't pulling off petals for each minute 🌺

We had fully flexible tickets so we only needed to purchase a ticket back to Ennis. The fully flexible tickets were good the rest of the way.

So, we bought the ticket from the machine on the platform. We used up a few minutes taking care of ticket business😊

Another distraction...I like signs!

Yay! Back to Ennis!

We got a coffee and waited.

And, here comes our train!

We were finally on our way to Galway!

What a day but we laugh about it so all is well. 

Our first late afternoon and evening in Galway was perfect!

No more problems!

Tuamgraney, County Clare, Ireland

We had a very nice late lunch at Nuala's Bar and Restaurant in Tuamgraney, Scariff, County Clare, Ireland.

It was our last day with the tour group in County Clare. We were feeling a little melancholy and also a bit of excitement to move onward with our journey across Ireland.

Here, our guide is trying to move the hanging plant off the name of the restaurant for me. He is quite tall but not tall enough :)

After lunch we took a walk down the street to a local 10th century church to attend a concert of traditional Irish music.

The little village of Tuamgraney is very beautifully decorated with flowers. 

If a boat doesn't float, fill it with flowers! 🌺 

It was a short 10 minute walk to the church which included time to admire the gardens along the way.

This is a small park beside the church and it is beautiful and so peaceful.

And, a creek was filled with peaceful reflections.

Some people entered the church right away and others, including me, wandered around the old cemetery. 

This church has been in continuous use longer than any other church in Ireland or the U.K.

Some of the graves were rather recent while others went back centuries. 

Many gravestones are so old and weather beaten that they can no longer be read.
