Color Carnival / Slot Machine at the Venetian, Las Vegas, Nevada USA

We didn't put a single cent (or dollar) into these tempting machines while in Las Vegas last month!
...that's hardly believable, I know...
I don't think photography is allowed on the gambling floor but, I took a quick one and then straightened and cropped it with Photo Shop.
I just had to have it for Color Carnival!

Watery Wednesday / Dry Lake Bed, Stateline, Nevada, USA

This DRY lake bed is on Interstate 15 just before the California/Nevada state line on the California side.
It had lots of water from recent heavy rains on Friday, February 12, 2010 with beautiful mountain and tower reflections.
On our return on Monday, February 15, 2010 the lake bed was DRY again...only muddy.
The water just sinks into the sandy bottom.
People like to come out here to sand sail when it's completely dry, which is most of the year.

That's My World Tuesday / Lake Mead, Nevada, USA

Just a VERY small part of Lake Mead, Nevada, USA
So scenic...I could gaze at it all day.
Beautiful anytime of year, but HOT during the summer months!

These photos were taken along the western shoreline not far from Hoover Dam, Boulder City, Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada.

A few enjoy fishing on this amazingly pleasant Nevada day...
February, 14, 2010. (Valentine's Day)

Some enjoy the tranquility...

take pictures to treasure...

picnic...

check out the marinas...
That's my husband in the black shirt and denim.
I see his shadow, too!
Most of this lake is only accessible by boat.
I have been able to do just that many times during my life.
We would pack up the boat and find a cove and camp for several days.
The water-skiing is superb (when it's not windy).
Ahhh...Lake Mead!

This little guy and others were throwing bread in the water.
The ducks loved it...

And, the fish went nuts!
Striped and Large Mouth Bass flourish in this lake.
Maybe these are Bass?
I don't know!

A  young girl was splashing her feet...
I don't know...
They sure look hungry to me!

This pooch was having such a good time!

Weekend Reflections / Water Reflections on Lake Mead, Nevada

Lake Mead lies in the states of Nevada and Arizona.
It is a startling contrast of desert and water, mountains and canyons and primitive backcountry.
People flock here for boating, fishing, swimming and water-skiing year round.

All was peaceful, until...

these people started tossing bread!

Scenic Sunday / Valley of Fire, Nevada, USA

This is the beginning of our visit into the Valley of Fire in the state of Nevada, USA.
There is much to see by car or by use of the hiking trails.
Most of our sight seeing was done by car on this trip.
We plan to schedule another to include some serious hiking in this fabulous red sand.
Please click on photos to enlarge!

One of the stops is "Mouse's Tank," and this is "Rainbow Vista."

I walked a short way on this trail to get a glimpse of what was around the giant rocks by the parking lot.
What a magnificent scene I found!
I'm definitely interested in spending more time here.

This was my first view beyond the parking lot.
It was about 3:30 in the afternoon.
The shadows were getting more and more dramatic.

The recent rains left their mark in the red sand.

And...I left my shadow behind!

We then moved on through the valley towards the White Domes.
They are not white, just not AS red!

The White Domes are visible now.

Another trail we are very interested in hiking.
Many old movies were filmed back where this trail leads.

I see a tropical fish and a horse's head in this rock...do you?
