An amazing bird sits on a fence at the Walter Peak Sheep Station on the south shore of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, New Zealand.
We were about to watch a sheep farmer and his dog gather sheep on demand...

The dog got his instructions and off he goes!

Here comes the first bunch down the hill.

 They can really run!

 Amazing!

These guys thought they would sneak back up the hill, but the dog was on them in a flash.

Sheep Herding - Morelea Sheep Farm, New Zealand

We visited a working sheep farm and had the opportunity to witness shearing and herding.
This series of photos shows the sheep the dog herded in from the far reaches of the pasture.
It was most amusing for those of us not raised on a farm!

Some are sheared and some are not!

This one dares to move away from the group.

But, not for long!

One sheep seems to have some attitude!

What a great opportunity for us to see this!

They will all be sheared eventually...like it or not, guys!

I couldn't stop taking pics of all those faces...

 He's still in charge!

A little guy gets a snack!

Sheep Shearing - Morelea Sheep Farm, New Zealand

We have had a lovely lunch at Morelea Sheep Farm prepared by the farmer's wife, Angie, and her sister.
We are really enjoying the beauty of the land and the hospitality of our hosts.
We are about to see some sheep shearing by a pro!

This is where the shearing takes place.

He gets the job done in just a few minutes.

These guys look embarrassed!
It's nearly summer in New Zealand but it's sure doesn't feel like it.

Lunch & Tour - Morelea Sheep Farm, New Zealand

After arriving at the Morelea Sheep Farm and being greeted by baby lambs we were treated to a wonderful lunch in the yard of the beautiful farm house.
It was lush with flowers and an inviting ambiance.

a view from where we had lunch...
I believe the cows belong to someone else...not sure.

These giant poppies were quite a treat!

 Every farm has a cat!

This one got a lot of lovin' while we were there!

Morelea Sheep Farm - Fairlie, Canterbury Plains, New Zealand

We have arrived at the Morelea Sheep Farm which is a typical working New Zealand sheep farm.

We were invited to lunch and then a tour of the farm which included sheep shearing, witnessing a working sheep dog and feeding of baby lambs.

It was a very cloudy day that threatened rain.
We ate outside and were quite comfortable.

I loved seeing a few sheep keeping watch on the hill tops!

These little lambs came to greet us!

 So darn cute!

 precious...

love, love, love them!
