SkyWatch Friday / Old Wagon in the Snow - Oak Glen, California USA

Our family enjoyed a snow-day on Monday at Oak Glen, California.
We were delighted the snow level from our last storm dumped the pretty white stuff on the lower elevations of our local mountains.
No "serious" mountain driving was necessary.
Oak Glen is a beautiful little valley full of apple orchards.
I have seen this old wagon many times but, finally, I got a shot of it in the snow.
It was a beautiful sunny day...which means this snow will be gone in a very short time.

Macro Monday / A Snowy Walk in the Woods - Mariposa Grove, Yosemite National Park, California USA

We took a 2 mile hike, this past week, up to the Mariposa Grove of the Giant Sequoias in Yosemite National Park.
The elevation gain was 1000 feet in that two miles.
There is still a lot of snow at the 5,000 ft. and higher elevations which is why we had to walk the road rather than drive to the grove.
I saw this lonely Black Oak leaf lying in the snow.

I thought this patch of melting snow looked like a ghost at first.
Then I decided it looked more like an owl...
But, today (3 days later) it might not look like anything at all.

Weekend Reflections / Palm Springs Tramway

My previous post showed the Palm Springs Tramway and the top of Mt. San Jacinto Mountain.
This is a reflection of the mountain top in the window of the tram station.

This is another reflection in the same window but in a section that had better light.
You can see the cables leading up to the mountain top.
It was very cold and windy on the top and a pleasant 65 degrees on the desert floor.
The base station is at the 2000 ft. elevation.
You can see lights glowing from inside the building!

ABC Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday / Mammoth Mountain & June Lake

These photos were taken at Mammoth Mountain and June Lake this past weekend...but, not by me.
They are of my niece, Sara, and her friend, Chelsea.
The Sierra Nevada Mountain resorts got a whole lot of the "white stuff" during last week's California storms!
They had the best time ever!
And, for Watery Wednesday...this is water in its frozen state!

ABC Wednesday / B is for "Best of Times"

Scenic Sunday / Snowy Mountains

Yesterday was the first day after our week long rain storms.
Our local mountains were quite an amazing picture.
It's difficult to get a good shot of them without something obstructing the "perfect" view.
The local airport has a nice clearing behind it without annoying buildings or towers of some sort.

I drove up the mountain road for a short distance to get a closer look.

SkyWatch Friday & Looking at the Sky on Friday / Snow on Mt. Baldy

I took this photo at 7:30 a.m. this morning.  We had a few minutes without giant rain drops so I ventured out to our sidewalk to get a photo of the new snow on Mt. Baldy, southern California.  Much more rain is coming today and tomorrow...
