I am surprised that your brother has a koi pond in his garden. It reminds me of my old experience that I saw bonsai in California when I traveled to San Fransisco about 15 years ago. Both koi and bonsai are Japanese words.

The koi pond looks like a great place to sit around and relax. I like the water flowing out of the fire pit.
