ABC Wednesday / "I" is for Import

Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro), California USA
I have read that most of these containers leave the Port of Los Angeles empty and return full.
Hmmm...import more than we export...no wonder people are out of work in the U.S.A.

The theme is the letter I this week.

I don't think we ever ship out anything in my little port city. Nice remInder.

Looks like you have some of the same containers I see daily passing through East Gwillimbury aboard trains. :)

Great post for the I Day! We do seem to be much better at importing than exporting -- unfortunately! Hope your week is going well, Carolyn! Enjoy!

Perfect word for the letter I. Seems like we are all in agreement that we import more than we export.

I like your I
As for background, that is a shame. While in Savannah a month or so ago, the exports were going as heavy as the imports. Hopefully the imports will one day lessen.

I'm always fascinated by those cargo containers, and I recently read somewhere (I forget where) they're using them to make small apartments in England.
Beautiful photo.

I like the colors in this one Carolyn. It's depressing about our import export ratio. We have to change that!

Great shot and post for the letter I. The containers are so colorful and make a beautiful photo with the blue water in front.

I received one of those chain emails the other day talking about this very thing. It said that the author checked the place of manufacture on most things they bought and often found the stuff made in the USA was less expensive. I didn't check it, but I have tried to be a little better at seeing if the same type product was available from a U.S. manufacture. If we all did that I think things could be better. Even if you had to pay a few percent more for it.

Sad but all to true, Carolyn... but it makes for a great (I) photo op.

New Zealand is snake free,

Yesterday, in one of the containers, a snake crept in to our country. The 80cm snake was discovered by port officials yesterday afternoon in a shipping container of plants which had come from Guatemala.

A very colorful illustration of our import/export practices. It is very sad when so many are out of work.

I like very much the agencement of thos containers... They look so small, just like cubes toys...
