SkyWatch Friday, Looking at the Sky on Friday / Sandia Peak at Sunset, Albuquerque, New Mexico USA

My husband and I took the aerial tram up to Sandia Peak which is the ski area above Albuquerque, New Mexico.  It was the night before the opening of the Balloon Fiesta so there were many people enjoying the view down below.

About 5 minutes later...

Another 5 minutes or so later...

...and then, Albuquerque becomes a sea of lights.  Lightning was creating quite a show in the western sky.
It was a bit nerve wracking seeing the brilliant flashes as we descended from the 10,300+ foot peak well after dark.

I have to second Sylvia, these are breathtaking shots. I especially like the third one down, it looks like the sun is setting on an orange sea.

Our imagined look of heaven must be right here in NM! The Land of Enchantment is indeed just that, the trip up shows us the vistas in the sky...

i'm speechless, these are truly wonderful shots! ^0^
the best sunsets for me are these fiery oranges or royal bleu colors.
the 1st one looks the best, it's like the hands of someone from up above, welcoming you. ^0^

I grew up in Albuquerque, NM. These photos express why NM is called the Land of Enchantment.

Isn't it gorgeous! We've been up there but never at sunset or after dark -- how could we not have thought of doing that? more reasons for another trip!!
