That's My World Tuesday, Blue Monday, Midweek Blues / Giant Logs in the Petrified Forest, Arizona USA

This is one of the first shots I took while in the Petrified Forest (Arizona, USA).
It is one of the largest petrified wood deposits in the world.
This is the "Giant Log" area at the southern end of the National Park.
There is a 28 mile road that leads to many other places to stop, gaze from your car or hike along loop trails, each at least a mile long.
We opted for the loop trails in several of the access areas.
This place offers a chance for silence, solitude and contemplation.

What a fantastic location!

We have a petrified forest near us, but we were so disappointed to visit it and discover that there was very little left to see and the state had put cages around what was still there to keep it from being stolen.

the first time i've heard of a "petrified" tree i didn't know what it was and when i saw one i still didn't know what to look out for.

what an amazing place that must have been if that is the largest collection of petrified trees.

Happy Blue Monday, Carolyn! Check out my book giveaways.

Wow! That is way cool. They look like just ordinary logs lying around. They must have been submerged in mineral-rich water for some time in the past.

A petrified forest with blue skies makes for a nice Blue Monday. A long time ago, I visited this area. It is awesome to see.

Beautiful sky and photo. It is interesting seeing the petrified trees. I've seen one at Yellowstone.

You brought us some wonderful views from your trip to the South West. It looks like the weather cooperated as well. I'm enjoying them all, I hope you have lots more.

Your post brings back lots of memories. I hadn't been there for 40 years and I still remember being fascinated with all the petrified wood.

Beautiful shot Carolyn using that gorgeous sky as a background!
I really love the painted desert shots below. That too was the perfect sky overhead. What a beautiful place to be.

Amazing, isn't it !! Great shot Carolyn - good detail. We didn't see these logs when we visited the petrified forest (many years ago) but we did see a couple of standing petrified trees - what a cool place.
