Today's Flowers #62 / Cal Poly Pumpkin Patch

Our local university, California State Polytechnic University, sponsors a giant pumpkin patch through their Agricultural Department each year at this time. It draws a huge crowd on just one weekend only. And, this was the weekend! We had a great time with our daughter, her husband and our 2 year old grandson. Their close friends also joined us with their two little daughters. There are flowering trees, rose bushes, pumpkin flowers and daisies galore! These photos show just that and the children romping among a gazillion pumpkins. The final picture is of our grandson on a tractor! He loved the pumpkins but wasn't all that impressed with the flowers...that's a boy for you!

Photostory Friday / Giant Pumpkin Patch!

Our local university (Cal Poly Pomona) sponsors a "giant" pumpkin patch and farmer's market each year at this time. I took several photos of people trying their best to get their pumpkins to the car which, by the way, is quite a walk. Here are a few... (I am wondering where the little ones from the double stroller must be...I sure hope they're not UNDER the pumpkins!)

Be sure to enlarge to see the expression on the little boy's face who is in the wheelbarrow. → → → → → → → →

Scenic Sunday / Cal Poly Pumpkin Patch

Cal Poly or, California State Polytechnic University (Pomona) has an agricultural department among many others, of course. Each year at this time the Agricultural Department sponsors a huge pumpkin patch celebration. It is quite a hit in this area! We endured the 95+ degree heat today with the rest of them! I will be posting photos on every meme that I can work them in over the next few days. Here's the first for Scenic Sunday...

Brenda's Photo Challenge / Highways and Bi-Ways

Brenda's Photo Challenge / Highways and Bi-Ways

The first photo is the road heading into the little town of Oak Glen, California, which is in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. Oak Glen is popular this time of year for apple picking and tasty homemade apple pie. This little village was nearly devastated by a wild fire just a few weeks ago. I have included a couple of shots, taken while riding on this same road, of some of the burn areas. This was a very close call for the apple orchards and the little town of Oak Glen. These pictures were taken on October 5, 09.

This wooden wheelbarrow is at Oak Glen, California where my husband and I visited recently. Oak Glen is a popular apple picking area at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains in southern California. This little mountain village area came very close to burning to the ground just a few weeks ago. It was a very close call...
