ABC Wednesday / "D"

These kinds of scenes disturb me in a very big way.
I watched this for quite some time from the pier.
This little guy was playing in a very dangerous ocean without a close eye on him.
Thankfully, a disastrous situation didn't happen...this time.

The theme is "D"

Yeesh. Reminds me of the story last year when a group watching the waves from the shore after a hurricane got washed out to sea.

Too bad you didn't have a whistle to alert them.

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday team, thank you!

Yep, always have a eye on kids playing near water..
I love your shots, they are just wonderful!:-)

Marvelous shots! But what are people thinking to let a child play like that unattended?? Or is that the problem, some people are just not into thinking. Great post for the day, Carolyn!

Looks like those 2 women weren't thinking clearly! One swoosh and that little guy would be gone gone gone - FOREVER! My God! The stupidity! Unbelieveable!

Not only could the child be swept away but it looks like the women had infants in front carriers. Had they been tumbled by a rogue wave they might have survived but the infants would have lungs full of salt water.

Too scary. things happen so fast. So glad that there wasn't a differnt ending to your story.
Beautiful dangerous waves by the way.

wow, that does look dangerous. I HATE when parents neglect their kids or do dangerous things in public. I want to say something, but know it's not my place. Another thing that bothers me is when parents 'toss' their babies in the air. So, I'm going to assume that everything ended up ok? Those waves look HUGE!!

Not so much common sense out there, is there? That definitely looks dangerous.

Before I ever read your words I couldn't believe my eyes. Even out of the water I would never walk with a child behind me where I couldn't see.
The little one had someone greater looking out for him that day. :)

Water is a very powerful force. Some people believe they don't have to think. We read about dumb situations every day in the newspapers and wonder how they could have happen. Your photos tell us the how and why. The photos also capture the power of the ocean. Great shots!

Amazing waves. I see what you mean about being disturbed.

I understand how you felt looking at the little girl! I just can't think of letting a little kid play near such big waves.

I have a healthy respect for big waves myself so I think that I, too, would have been very concerned about the child.

PS. Could you please tell me how you posted the ABC logo on your blog. I haven't been able to figure it out! Many thanks!

I want to be at the beach too! Drat.
Those waves would scare me too with little ones, and I don't think I would enjoy it as much. Mom are important people.

Great shots of the surf, unfortunately someone was thinking about the dangers there. Oh, it scares me.

Not too bright. Unfortunately, stupid parents are everywhere ... and it's the children who pay the price.
