This is Hot Creek just south of Mammoth Village in the eastern Sierras of California USA.
The creek runs for many miles and alternates from cool water to scalding hot.
People used to enjoy sitting in the hot water (including myself) but, due to increased geothermal activity, entering the creek is not allowed, hopefully temporarily.

I hope so temporarily too, as the water looks inviting. A beautiful shade of blue!
Great shot!
Carolyn, I SWEAR your family is following us! We were there last weekend. Isn't it an awesome place? Hubby and I walked down the trail and along the bottom. As he walked by, ahead of me, a puff of steam came up from the area with holes! HA! We have GOT to get together sometime!!!

You and Ebie are making me homesick and we only closed up two weeks ago! It will be a long winter I fear!
That first shot doesn't even look real it's that amazing! Well done.
That water is a lovely shade of blue! I would love to sit in the hot water also. Great shots.
Beautiful location. It looks like it would be very relaxing. Colors are so peaceful. Thanks for sharing your lovely photo.
Fascinating place, very beautiful :)
Alternates between hot and cold? How intriguing!! And beautiful!
Isn't nature amazing? But without its dangers, obviously.
Interesting post about a part of our country I don't know.

Beat shot, at first I thought it was Mammoth in Yellowstone.
Well that is an interseting place for sure. One does not want to soak and burn up! ♥olive
I live in Southern Califonia...I have never seen this~~~wow!
Happy Outdoor Wedensday:))

What a beautiful place, I can't get over the blue of the water. Maybe it will be temporary as it looks like a great place to relax.
Love the blue of water. Great place indeed...
I've heard of those springs...never been up there though. Great photos!
What an intense place. Hold on while I dry my laptop!
Most interesting Carolyn. I enlarged and read the signs -- and don't really understand the last one -- they have noticed changes, but don't think it's evidence of increased activity?
Beautiful pool -- and how lucky you were to get to use it ==I too hope you get to again.
What a wonderful spot to "soak" in the beauty! Hopefully it will be available to the public again.
The hot springs is similar to New Zealand's. Chefs like to cook exotic food, and I watch on TV they cook octopus. I ate them in Singapore,
nice shot! dropping by :)
hot springs, they say, reduce arthritic pain. my aunt soaks in a hot spring regularly.:p
i hope this place will be reopened to the public.
Wow, that looks like a good way to get cooked. When I was a kid way back when we used to go to hot springs in Idaho to take a soak. Miss those days.
Terrific captures as always. Lovely colours...but it look ice cold...
What an amazing spot! Great pictures.

That could be dangerous, but looks very soothing & relaxing when not so hot!
this landscape is so gorgeous! Haven't gotten to visit Mammoth yet:)
The photos are just beautiful. I just love all the different things we see on Outdoor Wednesday. I'm so glad I got to see them.
Wow the color of the water is really stunning... Thanks for the explanations too ; I learnt very interesting things.
Thank you for this. I was at Hot Creek a number of years ago and it was one of the best water experiences of my life. The "alive" water flowing cool with the warm or hot places arising from the sandy creek bottom were unforgettable. I hope it is able to open to the public again soon.
