San Diego Festival of Sails (September 3, 2011) San Diego, California USA

We spent the day in San Diego thoroughly enjoying the Festival of Sails.
This man is preparing the gorgeous red sails for our 3 hour journey on the water.

This is a view from where my husband and I were sitting on the 'American Pride.'

The sails are going up one by one!

We had a great time with a 'cannon battle' against this ship!
Downtown San Diego is in the background.

A smaller sailboat also graces lovely red sails!

Bringing down the sails!
I think it takes very brave people to be WAY up there!

Ruby Tuesday, That's My World Tuesday / Tour of California Cycling Race (7th Stage)

The 7th stage of the Tour of California Cycling Race started in our local area (Claremont, California).
Whoa...do they fly by FAST!
...and this guy isn't even in the race!

...nor this guy!
I tried some panning shots with a slow shutter speed for extra effect!

 READY, SET, GO!!!
It was an amazing rush to see the start!

 They sped by SO quickly!
I wanted to get back to my car and dash to another location where they would pass, but, it is impossible because of the huge crowds lining the streets.
You pick one spot and that is all you get.
It's over in a flash!

SkyWatch Friday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday, That's My World Tuesday / San Francisco Cable Cars

This was a perfect day to park the car and walk and walk and walk around San Francisco.
Our day ended with a climb up Hyde Street to find some great places to photograph the cable cars.
This one was going UP the hill!

This cute couple enjoyed the breeze as they came down the hill to the wharf area.

Blue Monday, That's My World Tuesday, Ruby Tuesday, Watery Wednesday / San Francisco, Calfifornia USA

The "Rocket Boat" speeds past Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay.
This boat isn't for me but I sure liked watching it!

Alcatraz is 1.5 miles from the Wharf area of San Francisco.
It has been a light house, a military prison and a penitentiary over the years.
Now, it's a great tourist attraction.

...and, of course a trip to San Francisco is incomplete without a bridge!
I can't believe I didn't get a shot of the Golden Gate!
Sinful, to say the least!
This is the Oakland Bay Bridge as we drove into the city from the east side of the bay.
It was a girls' road trip...such fun!
Thank you, Candi and Sally!
You 2 ROCK!

Blue Monday, Midweek Blues, Ruby Tuesday, That's My World Tuesday - Santa is a Really KOOL Guy!

My 3 1/2 year old grandson, Chase, was finally willing to sit on Santa's lap this year.
The last time was at 6 months when he didn't have a clue.

I had fun snapping these shots as quickly as possible just in case there was a change in mood!

Santa told Chase a secret!

It was all about getting that candy cane!
Santa was a really KOOL guy!

That's My World Tuesday / Is it Fall in Hana, Maui, Hawaii???

I posted what I thought was my last "fall colors" post a few weeks ago.
Those photos came from the high country of the Eastern Sierras, California and also Taos, New Mexico.
Little did I know that I would find even more fall colors in Maui, Hawaii.

These trees are brilliant orange, yellow and red right now.
I really don't think Maui knows about the fall season...but, there are fall colors in the Hana area of southeastern Maui.

These same trees are deep green everywhere else around the island, that I saw anyway.
This area is a bluff just above the ocean...certainly NOT high elevation.

Beautiful Hana never disappoints!
