Craggaunowen - Ring Fort

When the gate needs to be closed and locked in this modern day reconstruction of a Ring Fort, a rather modern day padlock is used.
Craggaunowen, County Clare, Ireland,

Details of the Craggaunowen Ring Fort

Celtic Cross

Woven Wool

Weaving was done outside during fine weather.

Please come inside...

Where the living and work was done.

The Souterrain or underground passages were used as food storage and places of refuge during attacks on the  Ring Fort, some have secondary chambers which are difficult to enter thereby adding additional levels of security.
