Brenda's Photo Challenge / Highways and Bi-Ways

Brenda's Photo Challenge / Highways and Bi-Ways

The first photo is the road heading into the little town of Oak Glen, California, which is in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. Oak Glen is popular this time of year for apple picking and tasty homemade apple pie. This little village was nearly devastated by a wild fire just a few weeks ago. I have included a couple of shots, taken while riding on this same road, of some of the burn areas. This was a very close call for the apple orchards and the little town of Oak Glen. These pictures were taken on October 5, 09.

Great photos. Thank goodness the apples orchards and the town escaped the fire.

Glad you joined in. Look forward to your participating in the next one.

I love that first photo for showing the beauty of the area, and the other two break my heart about the destruction of the fires. Thanks for jumping in on the challenge!

The first photo is so colorful; the second one is hard to look at when you see the devastation of the fire. I know that fire can be good sometimes, but it's hard to see when trees are burned down.

What a contrast between the first lovely shot of beauty and color with the second one of the devastation.
Nice shots of both!

That's a lovely road view towards the orchard. I was just glad it was spared by the fire. it is just sad to see the lifeless remains.

Have a great weekend!

The road heading into Oak Glen is beautiful in stark contrast to the burned hillside. That is so sad to see the damage.

Thanks for joining the challenge.
