We went to the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve today.
We were NOT disappointed!
My home is on the other side of the snow-capped mountains.
There are about 8 miles of trails along these hillsides that lead in all directions.
You can choose to walk up hill for the panoramic views or stay lower and enjoy looking up.
We did both...high and low!
and...never ran out of flowers.
The best part is that it wasn't crowded.
I took SO many photos...I'll be posting them for the next few days.
These are just the beginning...

Wow that is amazing!
Wow, what a great place. Truly amazing - I look forward to more photos.
Wow..what a scenery! I would be lost for days in those fields..So very lovely to see.
These are superb pictures! I don't have any suitable words to describe how much I am impressed by them.
Carolyn, I used to board my horses not far from the preserve, up in Antelope Valley. It was a 3 hour commute and just too far! Cheap, but far! I would love to visit this preserve some time! Thanks for sharing.
oh I would just love to be there amongst those beautiful poppies. You are so fortunate to have such beautiful scenery not too far away.
Carolyn, your poppies rival my birds in color! I think my orioles rolled in your poppies and carry the color in their feathers!
Wonderful flowers and images.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I used to live in Elizabeth Lake and have to say this is the one sight I miss the most. It was so neat to be able to just go a few miles up the road and be able to see this! Great shots.
Well, for sure I can see why it's the California state flower!
I have never in my life seen anything like this before. It is so beautiful. I love the colors as well. Did you see Dorothy and Toto there? Did it start to snow? LOL. Great captures. Just magnificent. Have a wonderful week ahead :)
Hi Carol, wow, this is one wonderful place ... very scenic indeed!

oh my goodness, i love all these flower photos you are sharing. My heart comes to life in their presence!
I could see a sea of oranges! Beautiful!
Our group of 45 will be hiking today and might also consider the 150th to 170th streets where there are better blooms.
I just got back from the tulip fields in Washington! I never think about the gorgeous poppy fields here. Beautiful shots you've got here. I do like the one with the couple strolling through the colorful field. Enjoy!
Wow it is beautiful scenery as in totally great!
