That's My World Tuesday / Sara

We have always been amazed how my two nieces resemble their parents.  Janelle is so much like her mother and Sara is the carbon copy of  her father (my brother).  I took these photos of  framed pictures in their home on Christmas night.  They have been on the wall forever, but, I finally got the bright idea to photograph them and put them on my blog.

The first photo is my brother at 6 months of age (back in 1957).  The second photo is his daughter, Sara, also at 6 months of age in 1993.  Her mother found a little outfit (for Sara) that resembled the outfit my brother was wearing in his photo.

The rest of the photos show my grandson playing the piano with Sara on Christmas night.  He was in his "jams" so he could fall asleep in the car on the way home.  It was late...

I got a new flash for my Canon for Christmas!  I am looking forward to "no harsh shadows" on walls in the future!

Monochrome Maniacs / My Nieces on Christmas Day 2009

These are my nieces, Sara and Janelle on Christmas Day.  Janelle moved to Nashville, Tennessee in August and has since been accepted to Belmont College there.  Way to go, Janelle!  Sara is doing fabulously in high-school and will be in college before we know it!

Watery Wednesday / Rain Puddles in a Parking Lot

This muddy puddle has tire tracks and also a very nice reflection of the palm trees nearby.  Apparently not everyone cares about beautiful reflections!

True Colours Thursday / "Cranberry"

These giant ornaments adorn the parking lot at the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. Notice how big they are compared to the bushes and trees around them!

Ruby Tuesday / Santa Claus at the South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, California

The Christmas tree at this shopping mall is quite tall. The base (on the first level of the mall) is decorated with snowy hills and tunnels complete with a beautiful train to delight the eyes of all. Above is this Santa Claus which is actually on the second level of the mall. Above all of that is the top of the tree which rises to the third level and upwards to nearly the ceiling. The last photo is a small part of the fence that surrounds the entire tree, which is beautifully decorated with greenery, white lights and lush red bows. We visited all three levels to see and photograph the entire tree!

Camera Critters / Christmas Ornaments

These little critters spend Christmas with us every year. They really aren't messy at all! We like to collect keepsakes from places we visit. The tropical fish came from Hawaii and the otter is from my husband's trip(s) to Alaska.

That's My World Tuesday / Christmas Lights

We have a local community that goes all out with their holiday outdoor lights. Our family and extended family have made it a tradition to spend time together enjoying the long walk through this neighborhood to view the upscale homes and their creativity with lights. It was cold last night and the rain held off until we returned home. (I know you folks from the cold climates will laugh when I say this... California is cold) But...it was cold out last night! We bundled up, drank hot chocolate and had a merry time together. I photographed some of my favorite images along the way. I really liked the house with the "tropical" theme since my husband and I are big Jimmy Buffet fans! I tried to photograph larger scenes, but, without a tripod...it was for nothing. They all were too blurry to post. But, we managed to get a few family shots of our daughter, her husband and their little guy (our grandson). and my husband and myself...I edited our photo to nearly black and white, just because I got that bright idea. My husband is clenching his teeth because he said his nose was cold...go figure?
