My husband and I just returned from a four day trip to the Eastern Sierras in California.
This is Lee Vining Creek all decked out in beautiful fall color.
This photo was taken yesterday, October 17, in the rain and it was COLD at about 7,000 feet...loved it!

Outdoor Wednesday / Fall Leaves Clinging to a Fence

It was very windy today.  In fact, a very chilly wind is still blowing tonight.  Our fall colors might be gone by morning if this wind keeps up.  I noticed a lot of leaves clinging to a chain link fence at the elementary school just up our street. The trees in that school yard are nearly bare now because of the wind!  The sun was low and the light was just right to capture their bright colors.

SkyWatch Friday / My Neighborhood on Dec. 17, 09

I took my dog and grandson on an early afternoon walk around our neighborhood. It is December 17, 09 and our fall trees are at their prime now. The sky was blue with wispy clouds here and there. We have a lot of Liquid Amber trees and it is strange to me that they are all different colors...some still have some green, some yellow, orange, red and some nearly bare. Fall is my favorite season and I cannot resist taking pictures of the glorious colors!

Mellow Yellow Monday / Fall Leaves and Rain Puddles

The fall colors of southern California are just now at their peak. We had some weekend rain which left great puddles around to catch falling yellow leaves. The first photo is my outdoor glass table top and the second is just a very wet spot on cement in my backyard. The rest are lovely neighborhood trees showing off their yellow hues!

Scenic Sunday / Chapel Road, Sedona, Arizona USA

This photo was taken on Chapel Road in Sedona, Arizona in late November 2009. I thought it looked like someone tried to erase the clouds from the sky.

Watery Wednesday / Oak Creek Canyon, Arizona

This is Oak Creek Canyon that runs through Sedona, Arizona. It was late afternoon with the sun hiding behind the high rock walls creating a lot of shade down at the creek. The running water is rather low this time of year but is full in the spring and summer when the snow melts in the Flagstaff area north of here. I wish we could have been in this area one week earlier for even better fall colors...but, it's still better than southern California!

Blue Monday / Red Agave Resort - Water Feature

I visited Sedona, Arizona last week with a friend. We stayed at a lovely little place out in the "red rock country." The outdoor area was very artsy with a pool, hot tub, fire-ring, wind chimes and water features! I loved this particular water-feature just outside our room.

Sunday Stills / "T" for Trees

The theme for Sunday Stills is the letter "T." I will choose "tree" since I have some nice fall colors from Sedona, Arizona. The top 4 trees are in Oak Creek that runs through the Sedona area and the last photo was taken at the property where we stayed beneath Bell Rock and Court House Butte. If we had been there a week earlier we would have seen more reds...but, that's the story of my life. However, coming from southern California...I was mighty impressed with what I found in Sedona, as always!

Wordless (Thursday) Fall Color

Our southern California fall color is finally arriving in mid-November. We're getting more and more "fallish" day by day!

Window Views and Doors Too / Los Olivos, California

This is the partially opened door to a gift shop in Los Olivos, California. There are some nice bottles of wine inside that little store since it's located in the Santa Ynez Valley, which is surrounded by vineyards.

Mellow Yellow Monday #42 / Los Olivos, California

I took this photo this weekend in Los Olivos, California. Just north of Santa Barbara, Los Olivos is part of the Santa Ynez Valley and known for its many grape vineyards and wine tasting. A stop here is a must when we travel on U.S. Highway 101 to the central coastal towns of California.

That's My World Tuesday / Making Pumpkin Spiders

It's nearly Halloween and the enthusiasm is kicking into high gear now. My little 2 year old grandson knows he's going to be a pirate and so is his daddy! His mommy will be a wench! They will go to a Halloween party where everyone will be in a costume. This will be his best Halloween yet!

We spent the morning outside on the patio making pumpkin spiders! I got the idea from my blogging friend, Shannon! Thank you Shannon! Chase really liked punching holes in the little pumpkins and sticking pipe cleaners into them to make 8 legs! Wow! He now knows that spiders have 8 legs...Then he glued on eyes! Very simple and a whole lot of fun...But, Grandma helped too!
