That's My World Tuesday / Sea Foam

My husband and I went for a long walk, yesterday, along Carlsbad Beach in southern California.
It was a beautiful day with big puffy clouds in the sky and perfect for beach walking.
We were quite surprised that the beach was dotted heavily with sea foam.
It was actually quite pretty but curiosity struck us as to the cause.
I had to wait until I got home to look it up on the internet and found the reasons to be varied.
I also found out that some beaches in other parts of the world have had a whole lot more than we had today  in Carlsbad!
This is a link about "sea foam" and quite interesting...the photos on this link are amazing!
The following pictures are what we enjoyed during our walk.

This was an interesting post. I don't believe I've ever seen seafoam. Did it have an odor?

No odor at all.

Wow! What terrific photos, Carolyn! The foam is really unusual, I've never seen anything quite like that or at least not that much! I'll have to read up on it, thanks for the info! Does look like a fun walk! Have a great week!

My first thought was that it looked like cotton wool. I've seen foam like that before but not quite so much of it.

the foams look like cotton balls and never seen like it before. Would love to have a walk on the beach right now. My World entry is up!

Looks like someone put too much soap in the sea. Nice to have a sunny day to walk the beach.

You got some great shots of this phenomenon but the ones on the link are incredible. When I have seen the foam in streams I thougt maybe it was human caused but perhaps that is not always the case.

Your photos are beautiful, not too much foam is good! Those other photos on the link are amazing. I don't think I'd want to take a dip in those foamy waters!!

The foam is fascinating. I hope it's not from some pollution. The turtles on the right are pretty interesting, too. Not sure what they "do" but I like them.

Aren't you glad that you are in California and not in Washington DC?

On our beaches in New Zealand, we also get these foams.

Fascinating, I always assumed it was pollution that caused this to happen, it looks like snow! Loved your piccies and very envious you can walk on a beach closeby.
