Ruby Tuesday, Watery Wednesday / Stand Up Paddle Boarding in the Marina

This little guy was paddling around in the marina at Dana Point Harbor with a little buddy.
His parents were sitting on their boat nearby enjoying a Sunday afternoon on the water.
I was pleased with all the red...just in time for Ruby Tuesday!

Scenic Sunday / Not Warm Enough For Me!

These photos were taken at Dana Point Harbor, California on Dec. 23, 09 (the afternoon before Christmas Eve).  While most of our nation is buried in snow, these people are out playing on the waters of the Pacific Ocean!  I don't know how these people could be doing this...my husband and I were wearing long sleeves and light jackets.  It's not that warm out here in southern California!

That's My World Tuesday / U.S. Naval Hovercraft

An amazing sight...please read the story at the bottom of this post!

My husband and I visited Oceanside, California yesterday. The U.S. Marine Base (Camp Pendleton) is adjacent to this beautiful seaside town on the Pacific Ocean. We visited a Harbor Festival for a while and then took a walk along the beach. Military vehicles were on the sand for all to view and enjoy. The best was yet to be seen...a U.S. Naval Hovercraft! Wow! What a sight! It was up on the sand with its engines running. A huge area of beach was roped off to keep viewers at bay. It was apparent that this Hovercraft was about to move back out into the ocean! What an amazing sight. The pictures in this post are only a small fraction of those that I took! But, it will give you an good idea of how exciting it was. The crowd cheered as the craft made its way to the water. I nearly cried at the sight. And, I am lucky to still have a camera that works with all the sand and water that was sprayed in all directions. I used the "canned air" for computers, etc., to clean it up when I got home. It is as good as new, but, I don't think I will take that chance again...But, this experience was worth it!

Outdoor Wednesday #36 / Tall Ship Festival - Sunset Parade

These are a few more shots of the Tall Ships that were in the sunset parade at Dana Point Harbor, California on September 11, 09. This ship looked eerie as it approached the harbor from the open ocean...

I have posted others earlier this week. Just click on "Tall Ships" in the label section at the bottom of this post to view other beautiful ships sailing in the sunset.
