Blue Monday / Seagulls At Morro Bay, California

There were a lot of seagulls flying around Morro Rock at Morro Bay. I think they were flying so we would look up and notice the spectacular blue sky!

You Capture / Theme is "Sunrise-Sunset"

This photograph was taken while riding in the car along U.S. Highway 1 in Morro Bay, California. I, so, wanted to be on the other side of the rock at this very moment to get closer to it. But, our time line failed me! This is a shot of Morro Rock at sunset with the fog rolling in from the open ocean. It really was a spectacular sight. I wish I could have taken the shot without the movement of the car...

Ruby Tuesday / Morro Rock and the Kayaks

Walking around the Embarcadero in Morro Bay affords some amazing views of Morro Rock any time of the day. But, sunset is the best, of course. These shots were taken about 10 minutes prior to sunset. You can see a slight golden color on the left side of the rock (top photo) caused by a light fog on the ocean. My husband and I had spent the morning out around Morro Rock watching the giant waves crash on the breakwater. Those photos are in an earlier post. The rock is so massive when standing at its base, but, it doesn't seem so large from across the water. It is a giant, considering it is a rock and not a mountain! I couldn't resist getting these red-orange kayaks in a picture with the "rock."

Scenic Sunday / High Surf at Morro Bay, California

I have a passion for pounding surf against rocks, breakwaters, bluffs...It's like trying to capture fireworks with a camera to me. We found these conditions all along the central California coast last weekend. These photos came from the base of Morro Rock at Morro Bay, California. We were actually standing at the base of the rock while viewing this surf against the breakwater in the bay. I am always amazed at how foolish some people are for getting so close. I could hardly stand watching them move closer and closer. I was also beyond the rope but, not anywhere near the people you see in these photos. The guy in the 4th photo was making me REALLY nervous!
