True Colours Thursday / "Cranberry"

These giant ornaments adorn the parking lot at the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. Notice how big they are compared to the bushes and trees around them!

True Colours Thursday, That's My World Tuesday / Balloons at the Park

My 2 year old grandson had a great time with some balloons at the park today. Eventually, they got tangled and he broke the ribbon that was tangled around his ankle...you can guess what happened next!
I even bought a weight so he wouldn't lose them...who would have thought he would break the ribbon? It turned out that he loved seeing his balloons in the sky...so all is well that ends well!

True Colours Thursday / "Black"

True Colors for this week is "Black." This is a Silver Back Gorilla my little grandson and I saw at the Los Angeles Zoo yesterday. The male was off "rough housing" with the baby while mom had a few minutes to herself! She seemed very contemplative... and, look at those feet!

True Colours Thursday / "Green"

These are definitely GREEN for True Colours Thursday!

The first photo is the Snow Plant that my friend, Sally, gave to me a few months ago. I want her to know it is doing very well!

The last 3 pictures were taken at the Port of Los Angeles. The bridge is the Vincent Thomas which connects San Pedro to Long Beach, California.

My 2 year old grandson is playing in the sand at a nearby park.

True Colours Thursday / "Pink"

I am going back into my archived photos for this "pink" post. "Pink" in my life is the amazing Sakura trees in full bloom during my visit to Japan in mid-March of 2008. I was there with my friend, Sally, and we watched the trees transform from the bud stage to full bloom over a 2 week period. My friends, Kenkichi and Yuki-ye took us to see so many others in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto City and on the Amakusa Islands. Late March and early April is a splendid time to visit Japan if you like all shades of "pink!"

This was our last day so we had the morning and early afternoon to go out and see the cherry blossoms one more time in Tokyo. It was a very gray day with threatening rain. The rain did hold off until we got to the airport! Then it poured! We were lucky to have the last few hours rain-free. I only had a simple "point and shoot" camera for the still shots then. In fact, Sally took these photos. I was using a video camera to pan the scenes across hillsides, castle grounds, and parks. I wish I had had my Canon then...but, I didn't. I guess I will have to go back!?
