Scenic Sunday, Round Robin Photo Challenge / Bridalveil Falls, Yosemite National Park, California USA
My husband and I spent the last 6 days in Yosemite National Park, California USA.
A visit to these Bridalveil Falls is always on the top of our must see list whenever we come here.
The daytime temperatures at this time of year are in the high 50s to mid 60s.
Night time temperatures are down into the 30s still.

This waterfall is one of many spectacular sights in Yosemite Valley.
It was late afternoon, sunny and windy.
We were treated to a dancing rainbow...
The colors jumped around depending on how the wind was blowing the mist around.
It was quite chilly!
But, what an awesome sight this is!

Bridalveil Fall is often the first seen by visitors entering the park.
It is a 620 ft. fall but the water doesn't always reach the ground because of its light and swaying flow summer through winter.
The moon is slightly visible!
The Ahwahneechee Indians named it Pohono, meaning "spirit of the puffing wind."

These falls were within about 5 miles of our hotel in Yosemite National Park...which was our home this past week.

Mellow Yellow Monday, Macro Monday / White Orchids
I continue my challenge with macro.
My 12 orchid plants are blooming again...
at least several of them for now.
Every now and then I am lucky to have all of them in bloom at once, and then I have a VERY colorful garden window.

I saw a lot of these orange daisy like flowers while photographing the desert wildflowers at Anza Borrego Desert State Park last weekend.
It was late afternoon and the light was illuminating their faces, but, I wanted to photograph them from their backsides to capture their transparency with perfect light like this.

Photo Friday / Children
This is my little grandson's first pony ride.
He was a little apprehensive but decided he liked the idea after all.
Chase will be 3 years old in mid-June.
He will have a new baby brother in mid-August!
We just found out the gender TODAY!
My daughter and her husband were NOT going to find out but caved at the ultra-sound appointment this afternoon.
Everyone is delighted...but, we would have been happy with a little sister too.
The theme is children this week.

An 8 year old boy did an amazing routine with a kite to music at the Kite Festival in Huntington Beach, California USA
An 8 year old boy did an amazing routine with a kite to music at the Kite Festival in Huntington Beach, California USA
It was discovered that he had bone cancer in one of his arms at the age of 3 years old.
He is a survivor!
These colorful kites were all purchased for a donation of $10-20 each to benefit the boy's family during their financial pressures with medical bills, etc.
The goal was to sell 100 of these kites and they did!
They all flew together in the sky over Huntington Beach, California USA
last Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Weekend Reflections / Borrego Springs Resort and Country Club, California USA
After being out on the desert floor all afternoon checking out the desert wildflowers, we relaxed at the Borrego Springs Resort and Country Club for dinner.

The reflections became more intense as the sun dropped closer to the rim of the mountains behind me.
This coyote was interested in a duck dinner and a big drink ofwater.

This is the scene we enjoyed after walking around the desert floor on Henderson Canyon Road while checking out the desert wildflowers.
We had dinner on the outside patio of the Borrego Springs Resort and Country Club just as the sun was sinking below the mountains.

Watery Wednesday, Outdoor Wednesday / Kites over the Pacific
It's all about kites for me this week!
These photos were taken just about 6 p.m. on Sunday at Huntington Beach, California USA.
We spent the afternoon at the Kite Festival there.
I was determined to stay around to capture that "magic" light in the late afternoon!
ABC Wednesday / "I"
The crowd on the pier at Huntington Beach, California watch with great interest as the 6 people down on the sand perform their kite routine with intense concentration.
There were 6 kites, but one is out of the picture for now.
They all danced around to music with great precision.
It was a very intriguing program to watch!
Somewhat distracting was this guy!
Maybe a style you don't want to imitate?

Ruby Tuesday / and...More Kites from the Festival at Huntington Beach, California USA
These photos were taken this weekend at Huntington Beach, California USA.
It was an amazing day for a kite festival.
I am posting kites "galore" on several memes this week!
This kite was literally planted on its tip on the side railing of the pier.
As soon as someone would reach for it, it shot back up in the air, only to return again in another place.
I actually touched it once!

He was so busy talking to his friends that he didn't notice that the kite was just "inches" from his head until he turned around.
Everyone else noticed...
