I was surprised when my cat brought in this praying mantis and played with it beside me while I was on the computer! I have seen many of them but had NO idea they had colorful wings. I guess you're never too old to learn something new!
Thankfully this mantis survived being captured by my cat!

I have been photographing them for about two months and I have one that lives on my patio. I even just got photos of one laying eggs. But I have never seen the colors on the wings before. Very beautiful.

I often see a praying mantis at this time of year. But I did not know it had colorful wings. I have never seen a mantis with its wings open. Great photo!
