Scenic Sunday / High Surf at Morro Bay, California

I have a passion for pounding surf against rocks, breakwaters, bluffs...It's like trying to capture fireworks with a camera to me. We found these conditions all along the central California coast last weekend. These photos came from the base of Morro Rock at Morro Bay, California. We were actually standing at the base of the rock while viewing this surf against the breakwater in the bay. I am always amazed at how foolish some people are for getting so close. I could hardly stand watching them move closer and closer. I was also beyond the rope but, not anywhere near the people you see in these photos. The guy in the 4th photo was making me REALLY nervous!

These waves are impressive. I guess the watchers don't care if they are washed out to sea.
I love the sculpture but the aloes are perfect, perfect focus and blur of the background. They disappeared, I guess you are busy editing. I've wondered what happens when I re-edit once published. The preview doesn't show it accurately and I often re-edit after I publish.

Isn't nature amazing? Wow, these are great shots. I love how it sprays up in a mist.

Well you can look at it this way, if those people get swept out to sea, its natural selection. :)

I often go down to the lake near me when I see that the waves are high. But, I never get to see anything like this! Amazing. Great photos.

Great photos Carolyn, I love the pounding surf too. I've been around the ocean quite a bit and as you said those people, especially that man, are very foolish.

Wow! Amazing surf! I agree; I'd stay away from those pounding waves. You never know when a really BIG one might grab you and sweep you out to sea. You've got really interesting pictures this week! thanks for the visit to my SS.

I live here- sadly we get one or two deaths each and every year from people being overtaken by a wave either here or over in Montana de Oro. Please don't get too close.
Thanks for coming to Morro Bay. You're always welcome here!
