SkyWatch Friday #58

We enjoyed a beautiful clear sky in San Diego last weekend while touring the USS Midway and museum. It was a perfect day to be out on the harbor and walking in the gentle breezes across the flight deck of this mighty naval carrier. This ship has a 47- year odyssey that stretched from the end of WWII to the liberation of Kuwait in 1991. An odyssey shared by 225,000 sailors whose average age was 20. No other aircraft carrier served America as long as the USS Midway. She was decommissioned in San Diego in 1992 and opened as a museum in 2004.

These photographs were taken while walking around the flight deck of the USS Midway against a clear blue sky.

This post made for a very interesting swf entry. I esp. liked all the assortment of flags against the sky.

Nice post. The flags are a wonderful thing to put against the clear sky. And I'm a sucker for fast airplanes.

What a marvelous photo series of your visit to the San Diego Harbor. I've not been there in a LONG time, but looking at your beautiful images brings back memories of visits past. Thanks for your visit to and comment on my morning skies mosaic at Small Reflections. I shared sunset mosaics at Sacred Ruminations.
Hugs and blessings,
