Some surfing action at the "Wedge" at the Balboa Peninsula, Balboa, California.
I could spend "forever" here...just watching.
Often, the surf is unbelievable!
Some amazing sets came in every 20 minutes or so...
I waited patiently for a shot like this...
...and this.

Wow - those are just astoundingly good! Even if you were patient "forever," capturing those moments in frame and in focus is a terrific achievement, let along ending up with such iconic shots. Amazing!
These pictures are really good, Carolyn! I love the action shots of the surfers in the water! I hope to have the opportunity for similar shots while in Hawaii later this month.
What fabulous action shots you captured! Love them...
One word: Amazing!

Great captures! I tried once to get surfers at Santa Cruz and tossed them all, not a one worth keeping (photos, I mean, some of the surfers might have been keepers).
I just love the bottom pic! Great timing indeed.
I feel guilty looking at young gorgeous hunks. Let me linger just a few more seconds...
Carolyn, what perfect shots of surfers in the gorgeous Pacific Ocean! Well done! Happy RRPC! :)
Super duper action shots. I love the last one too. It's a great capture.
Great photos..
As a young man, I was pounded into the sand more than once at the wedge. A brutal shore break.
If you don't mind, I'm going to tag along.
thanks

Your wave photos are awesome! Glad to see some "sea" photos and excellent ones at that!
I think your photos here are fantastic!! This looks so inviting- beautiful day too for these images! I have a nephew whol lives in California (where I'm from)..he surfs and so do my boys- when they can. Makes me wish I had a better zoom! Nice captures and share-
Great captures of surfers! Your photos reminded me of my shooting of white-water rafting in the Kuma River in Kumamoto Prefecture. I remembered that I had to wait patiently to capture the great timing of the rafting.
